HI!
My name is Casey and i’m in the U.S.A. I have a cat named Fluffy and a dog named Tadpole. My usual day is that in school we start at 8:00 and end at 3:00. After school I would either go swimming or go to dance for an hour with my two best friends, or guitar.
After doing dance,swimming, or guitar i would go home and eat dinner. Then I would practice my guitar. After that I would play on the internet. Then i would try to teach my cat tricks, it never works. That’s basically my day every day.

My name is Lilah I love animals, and I particularly like guinea pigs. I am in the fourth grade. Cool blog!
Today I am teaching fourth grade, like I do every day. Our school is looking forward to a two-week spring break starting soon. This day was special because we were able to see our 9th graders perform a fantastic play called, “You Can’t Take it With You.” The actors were amazing and the storyline was hysterical.
Our class is studying the 50 states right now. My students are also in the process of publishing picture books. They are wonderful!

Leap Year History
Since it’s Leap Day our assignment was to investigate the history behind it. I learned that there are 365 and 6 hours in a year! Julius Cesar the founder of Leap Year saw a flaw in the calendar and fixed it by adding a Leap Day every 4 years to make it as exact as it can get.By now you should be wondering why is it on February and not March,well that is because February is the shortest month of year and therefore helping to balance the off balance of the year!

I have been playing outside lately and it was fun.I was playing street soccer it’s really fun but the thing that is really cool is that there is no rules. There is only outs and scoring goals. In the Pirates of Penzance the character Fredric is apprenticed to a band of pirates until his 21st birthday. When he supposedly turns 21 he leaves and gets set to be married. However, the pirates find out he was born on Leap Day and so then has to return to sea until well into his 80′s.

My Ideas on Leap Years :)
In my opinion leap years are very cool. I think that it is interesting how the calender has one more day added on to it every four years. I also think that having your birthday on this day would be very hard because you would only have a birthday every four years. Today is just going to be another regular day for me. I won’t be doing anything very important. My family has never done anything for the leap year and probably never will. I think that having a leap year is cool and interesting but that it doesen’t really effect what I do on Febuary 29th.

Leap Year
Leap year isn’t very exiting becuase you have to go to school for one extra day. An easy way to remember the leap year is that it is the same year as the Summer Olympics. If you had an event like you birthday, or anniversary you would only celebrate it every four years hahahahahahahaha! sucks for them. I am in conclusion spending today like a normal day its not that important.

Once every four years, my yearly schedule seems to be given one extra day to do whatever I please. In my family, timing means absolutely everything. I’m always doing something. If I have free time, I plan something to fill the extra hours of my day. Whether it’s sleeping, or studying. Having one day where my family does nothing (February 29th) can be a little too overwhelming for a fifteen year old girl who never quits going and going and going. Instead of feeling lost and confused on Leap Year (today),I’m going to do only one thing: relax. That is, after I finish attending my classes.

Teaching!
Right now, I am at my Student Teaching position at an alternative school in western Michigan. I have been prepping for a writing unit I will be starting next week called “This I Believe!” Right now, my students are listening to music rather loudly, and one of them was making dinosaur noises in the back that were actually pretty impressive. The class is Yearbook, so they have pages they’ve been assigned to work on all trimester. Today has been a pretty laid-back day, like the rest of the week, because we are finishing up a unit project in class. We were supposed to have an ice storm today, and I was hoping for a Snow Day, but no such luck. No school in the middle of the week would be sooo nice. I’m looking forward to the weekend already!

Today I am at school doing math. I think that leap year is awkward. I understand the science of why it happens but I just find it odd. I have a Schwans man who was born on a leap year. He is the coolest guy ever. On the leap year I like to play leap frog. The name leap year is kind of false. You think that it is actually leaping a year when really there is just another day addeed to the year.

Augello’s first attempt
Hello from Norwood, MA, USA. We are a third grade class with a leap year baby in our group. One member of our group just got his cast off of his leg and he is mad about Pluto being kicked out of the planet group.
This is our first blog attempt and we are finding it fun! Even though we just had a vaction week, many of us are going away this weekend or soon.

Febuary 29th
At my school in Poughkeepsie we are getting picked up early from school because there is a very large chance of snow. Most of the school is leaving before 12:0o. This is the first snow related day off that has happened since October. In October we had 3 snow days off because of power outages.

February 29
Today, is just like any other normal day. I wake up in the morning at 7:00 am, get dressed and ready for school. At 8:25- 8:30 school starts. Let me tell you about my school day, first and second period there is LAL. Then there is Math, then my worst subject Science. Then comes lunch, after there is Social Studies and then Gym. At the 2:55 is when finally school is over. After school I go home eat then i do my homework, take a shower, watch tv and go on the computer.Except today is pretty bad day, I have to go to the dentist which I personally hate. Other then that its a pretty normal day nothing special. Then at 7:30 I have dance, which is only sometimes on Wednesday’s. In the end I eat again, then watch tv untill i get tired and fall asleep. Thats my awesome day, lol.

My Extra Day
If I had an extra day to do anything I wanted I would read my favorite books. I would read mystery,fantasy,fiction,non-fiction, and adventure books. I would want to read these books so I can get my AR points I need to finish for this 9 weeks. I also want to read dictionarys so I can understand some words I don’t know. Wow!
Wow! Leap year is so cool! I couldn’t imagine having a birthday on leap day. You could only have a real birthday every four years! Then you couldn’t get a drivers license or things like that. I find leap year very intriguing, I never knew that there are 365.25 days per year. I wonder what would happen if we didn’t have leap day….. Would we have to have any extra .25 day every year? I also wonder the stars would look like if we didn’t have a leap year.

As Jose arrived to the Bahammas.He yelled out to the air ” I’m here, I’m here ! “Everyone looked at him and seemed as they didn’t care. Jose had a splendled time at the Bahammas. He rented a room in there hotel and went on rides! But jose felt trouble because he had no more money to pay for his food. Jose tried everythinq , so he could to stay there. He even tried to work in the hotel but they rejected him. And he had no choice but to go bact to New Jersey. Jose packed his bags and sneaked into the airport and landed back from where he came from!

A Death Trip

If…
If I had an extra day that I could do WHATEVER I wanted with, well…
I would sleep in till ten o’clock, then I’d get up and have an Oreo Poptart. Then I’d sit around and draw and write and read and watch TV, then for lunch I’d have a TACO! (And a few more for dinner).
Then I’d take a shower and have a walk and it’d be really nice outside. And everyone will leave me alone and I won’t have to do anything unless I want to. I wouldn’t go to sleep until midnight, then I’d stay up a while longer on my iPod under the covers in my bed. Then I’d go to sleep and not have a single dream.
That is what I’d do if I had an extra day.

Wear a pink shirt to stand up for bullying!
I am an 8th grade student at my middle school. We are all sitting in my geography class talking about leap year and talking about how unique and special it is. Today at my school is also ” wear a pink shirt to stand up to bullies!” day. Basically, everyone at our school is encouraged to wear a pink shirt to show that we’re against bullying. This is in honor of a boy who lives in Canada who was made fun of for wearing a pink shirt. Two boys passed around pink shirts for everyone one day at there school to show that bullying will not be tolerated. I’ve decided to make this my February 29th blog post because bullying needs to be taken more seriously. Cyber bullying is getting to be a major issue at our school, and it’s important that we take care of it. My goal is that people see this post and think twice before they say something. Researching Endangered Species in NJ
I am a teacher at Southern Regional HS in Manahawkin, NJ and we are researching endangered species of New Jersey. The students were given a project to research one endangered species and determine the causes of its endangerment, impact of the endangerment and possible solutions to the endangerment. The students will then create a campaign, and all of the students will vote to decide which species will be selected as the species most deserving of attention. It was a project inspired by a colleague and fellow classmate in a graduate IT course at Stockton College of NJ. My students and I am very happy to be a part of this project. Thank You!

A trip

The extra day !
Today I was awakened by the sound of a disturbing honk produced by a dump truck! it was another typical day for the rest of the world, but not for my school. i was really diaspointed to have to wqake up from a night of limited amou t of sleep. i begged my mother to allow me to stay home. but she denied my proposal. I dragged myself top school today only to find a lout of a student disturbingly sing the lion king with his “Spider Man” bookback. And he was in 7th grade. saddly he is in my class and is a pain in the neck. aside from that today our teacher changed our seats. well guess what im next to that disturbing child i mensioned earlyer on. i just hope my day gets better.

Today on February 29, the day that rarely happens, my school is having sime strange events. First, the dishwasher caught on fire so we have to eat sack lunches. A day off?
Happy Leap Year! We are posting from Norwood, MA, USA. This is our first post as a third grade. We are excited to post and to read other posts.
Later today we might get our first real snow of the year. Last year at this time we had about 30 inches already – this year – about 4 inches. If we had snow – we could be jumping 29 times in it.

As you look up at the sky there is an overcast grey tone to it. Up here in the Northeast of the United States, we recognize these signs. We are in for a snowstorm. Horay. This year started with a bang in October with two feet of snow falling in one evening. So everyone thought that we were going to have a very bad winter. The opposite has happened and we have only had minor accumulation. I am looking forward to cuddling up tonight and tomorrow and watch the snow accumulate. We are suppose to get 8-10 inches. My favorite activity to do in the winter is take the dog snowshoeing. He loves going in the back of my house on the trails. The only problem is that if the snow is wet and sticky he will come back looking like a snowman. The snow makes big balls of snow on his legs and front fur.
But today, right now I am running errands as we have the week off from school. Have fun everyone on leap day. I wish that I was jumping into a snowbank today, but it will have to wait until tomorrow.

St.Eds football club
St.Eds football club is a fun club that happens after school. It happens once a week after school on Thursday. We learn how to play football and we do a lot of fun activities. It last for one hour. There is a year 3 and 4 football club on Tuesday and a year 5 and 6 football club on Thursday. We’ve been doing football club for about 3 years. Everybody who goes to football club really enjoys it!

Another day.
Today, i woke up at 6. Just like any other day. In the middle of winter, 75 degrees.Can you believe that! Windy as can be, and Pouring down rain on my way to school. Today is a bad hair day. For sure. I’m in 2nd period,language arts. it is 9:36 am. i”m tired. The lightening kept me up alll night. Have i mentioned im terrified on storms? Yes, yes i am. Mybestfriends are here. ski trip
Last week I went to Timberline West Virginia and went skiing. It was a lot of fun, I got to go with a few of my friends in 6th grade. On the last day of skiing we went down two black diamond and it was really fun. They also had a pool table and a air hockey. I was really sad when we had to leave. But I knew that we were going to go back next year.

Hopefully Happy
This is so fun! I love Blogging. I really hope that my day is a good one. I am a BIG Adele fan. Me and my friend has always dreamed about going to one of her concerts. It is thunder storming outside. We haven’t had a thunder storm in a while and it is really exiting. I love listening to the thunder. I read a really sad book called Hurt go Happy, and I cried three times. I suggested that book to the rest of my class, and when they read it, they cried three times to. They cried at the same places that I did! I am almost crying just thinking about it! Our school got new laptops and they are so light! They are called mac book airs. I collect snow globes. I have a blog and I always love to post on it. It is very fun. Yesterday I was going through my stuff and I found something. It was 2 little dolls from second grade. I got one from my best friend’s birthday party where we went on a treasure hunt and I bought the other. Today my friend let me wear black fingerless fishnet gloves. They’re really cool. February 29th is once every 4 years.
Today, on this special day, I’m doing this for the first time. I go to Crozet Elementary School and we are going to have an assembly. A person is going to come and teach us the mathematics of hip-hop (It should be fun).
I have a question for the other people that are doing this: Do you know anybody who was born on February 29th? If you do, then that person’s birthday would be once every 4 years.

Well, usually I don’t think about it being Feb. 29 on Feb. 29, but this year, I am!
I think about how much it would stink to be born on Leap Day, but then again, I’d just celebrate my B-Day on March 1st, but it would’t feel right!

What I’ve Learned…
I learned that you really do have to live like you are dying. In Language Arts we listened to a song that said that because we have been thinking about time a lot since today only comes once every four years. I realized that if you were about to die you would wish you had lived a better life than you did. Wouldn’t you? So I need to pray more and live like I really was dying. I also thought about who I would call if I was on a plane and I called them with my last thoughts and goodbyes. I should treat those people like I care, every second of the day.
