Teaching and Living

Not a very exciting day – it started out with a great red sunrise which if we know the old fishermans rhyme -
“Red Sky in the Morning, Sailors take warning – Red Sky at Night, Sailors delight”. Well, the school day has ended with rain, and a few snow showers mixed in. Tough after two great days around 60 degrees F.
Spent the day teaching – students finishing up wonderful sewing projects, taking final review and cleaning. Tomorrow we begin learning Nutrition and Kitchen Skills. Always a highlight of my teaching experience.
So now I get to leave school and begin my “super commute” Yesterday I heard that people who travel at least one hour a day to their job are considered “super commuters” I have always wanted to be a “super Hero” I wonder what color my cape should be!
Maybe I’ll get back on later to fill you in on the ride through the rain!

Enjoy every minute

Yesterday is history
Tommorow is a mystery
Now is a gift, that’s why they call it the present
Live each day with fun and laughter and remember smiles are contagious
Be thankful for your present

Virtual school

I wanted to tell you about the job I do. I teach teenagers (from about 13-16 years) who are not at school, either because they are too unwell to go to school or because they’ve behaved in ways their schools didn’t like and schools would rather not have them back! I don’t ever see my students, because we do all our teaching in online classrooms…we can chat, write on a whiteboard, look at things on the internet together, and generally do most of the things you could do in a normal classroom…but all from the comfort of our computers! It’s not an easy way to study but lots of my students are fab and really take every chance to learn and get the qualifications they need to go to college and on to work. I’m dead proud of them, and I do love not having to worry about how my hair looks when I get up to teach in the mornings! This blog is a good example of how technology helps us to connect – and that’s what my work is all about too…
Happy blogging – Sue

29 days to go

Just realised it’s 29 days to go until our Easter hols. I’m going on a cruise for the first time, glad we didn’t book a Costa one! Better get a move on though I’m on a course today building a new Learning Platform using Uniservity Life and I’m still sat here in my pj’s!

Foghorns in the Solent

Woken very early by the Isle of Wight ferries blowing their foghorns every time they pass our house! Just off to school for a long day, with Year 9 course planning parents meeting this evening. I am waiting with bated breath to see if my best buddy does actually propose today….. :)
