Just an ordinary day . . .

Second post from me – greedy I know! My first was personal about my daughter’s birthday being today. This one is about me as a Headteacher and a bit about the day ahead.
Today I hvae been shwoing potential candidates around for a teaching post which we have advertised and closes tomorrow. I already have LOADS of applicaiton forms to read through which will be a challenge but at the same time will be exciting because I will appoint a new member of staff who will bring much to our team and join us as we strive to be the best we can be.
I’ve been into our Reception class to help them solve a burglary as it appears that the teacher’s chair and other items have gone missing. Two characters who match the description of Burglar Bill and his wife Burglar Betty were seen around school this morning! The children are now coming up with a plan to see if they can solve the ‘crime’.
I’m now going through applications for places in our Reception Class next September; trying to sort and rank them according to our criteria. It is humbling and encouraging that so many people have expressed a preference for a place at our school (up on last year) but also difficult because I know that many will be disappointed. As a parent myself I know the worry and concern that goes along with this.

As for this afternoon, I will be going with Y5 to visit the local library and hopefully encourage as many as posible to join. I will then be making an early departure today (about 4 o’clock) as I want to get home to celebrate my daughter’s 3rd (12th) birthday with her.

I can’t wait to read the archive of today and see what has been posted – hopefully some of the classes from my school might contribute too…..

Happy Birthday

How time flies. 12 years ago today my wife & I were getting ready to go to the hospital for the C Section to deliver our furst child. All had gone well until the 40 week check when we discovered the baby was breech & engaged-following brief discussionwith consultant the decsision was made that C Section was safest option. I’ll never forget the night before sitting there knowing that the next day would bring parenthood! All children are special but to have your first child, who is also the first daughter in my immediate family, is for e something very special. So, a vey happy borthday not only to my beautiful daughter, but also to anyone celebrating their birthday today.
