Tonight, my class is having a learning lab to show our parents what we have done in class. I love this class because it’s like no other class. I am not worried at all. I think that I have done well and it should be fun. We did a problem in class that we had some trouble with, but it was fun. http://thinkzone.wlonk.com/MathFun/Triangle.htm. I challenge you all to try this!

Today several of our classes have joined in the Feb29 project. They really enjoyed it and for most it was their first experience of blogging, so a double positive!
I really hope today will inspired more educators globally to involve their children in blogging and that it will include linking with communities around the world. We can learn so much from the diversity and richness of the experiences and knowledge of others in different countries. We need to expand our classrooms and go global!
Thank you to David and your team of helpers for facilitating today. It’s been a great success on every level.

On 29/02/12 in Melbourne Australia
I look back and see,
The many things I did today
That represents my life and me.
It began quite early in the morn
In our new house nearly complete,
Going through building requirements & workmanship
With tradesmen we had to meet.
Off I then went to the next scheduled task
A presentation I had to prepare,
To inspire those that seek work in our city
With many ideas I could share.
That allow them to see their value
And realise they can find success,
To develop self-belief and persistence
Find their passion and their best.
This is what I do with young people
I have the pleasure of working with,
Not to mention their teachers and families
To find the gems they hide underneath.
To help them improve their lives and learning
And all they do and can be,
To enjoy learning in many ways
Then eventually they begin to see.
The star they are in all they do
Their potential they finally reach,
The pleasure they find in learning
And for teachers in how they teach.
21st century learning
Is such a must in the work I do,
From using computers, iPads and more
There is so much to learn that is new.
I use these tools with all learners
To motivate them to learn and grow,
Creating new opportunities to learn so well
And deepen what they know.
Then back to our learning studios.
With a team I absolutely adore.
We share the same values and passion,
I cannot ask for more.
As my time continued on
Learning Coaching was next for the day,
I created more unique ways for my students to learn
Including tools that record what they say.
One student I coached reminds me
Of the passion I have to do more,
To seek ways to help learners that need it most
A foundation will do this for sure.
One that supports these learners,
Their families, their teachers & schools,
A holistic approach they need so much
With 21st century tools.
After working with my edumazing students
My commitment to my community progressed,
Meeting my fellow Rotarians
At new apartments that are called Quest.
Then off to dinner to share fellowship
And to hear great stories and say,
We make a difference in all we do
For so many every day.
Then back home to my beautiful family
The loved ones I like to please,
Finding a moment to speak to my daughter on Skype
Learning and living overseas.
My son once again is out and about.
My hubby relaxing at home.
To share the new stories we both have today
And glad he’s no longer alone.
I am grateful for the people around me
And for the great things we share and see.
Today is like every other day.
Thank you for reading my story.

Here are just some of the facts we have been learning today about Native Americans:
They were the first people to reach America
They came from Western Asia
They walked for more than 50 miles across the Bering straits
There were many tribes such as Seminole in the South-East and Iroquois in the North-East.
Algonkian men built dome shaped wig wams.

I am a fourth grade teacher in New Orleans, Louisiana. Today my students and I watched a BrainPOP movie about Leap Year. I thought I knew about Leap Year but I learned something new today. Did you know that years that end in 00 and are not divisible by 400 do not contain February 29th? I was amazed by this fact and had never heard it before watching the movie with my students. So on this February 29th, I am proud to say I am definitely a life-long learner. Happy Leap Year everyone!

Today has been the first day for Grade 3s in the ICT extension program. The students were using our new MacBook Pros and for the first time used ComicLife. We couldn’t believe how easy it was to add photographs and with taking balloons to explain what it means to be in LEEP (Lodgers’ Elearning Extension Program). We had another live radio show on The Berwick Lodge Student Hour with students taking control of their own learning by creating the show with scripts, playlists and riffs as well as managing the technology by working at the control panels.
It’s a great time of year – new programs, excited students and beautiful weather as the summer turns to autumn.

I’ve been in some sort of a school for most of my life. I think I have almost avoided going out into the “Big Bad World” too by staying “inside” education. I’ve gone from Primary to Post Primary, to a couple of Colleges as a student and then into a job as a teacher.
Then, I got a job in the NCTE in Ireland, where I work in teaching teachers about bringing ICT into their classrooms. I’m still a teacher though, so the “Big Bad World” has got closer, but is still an arm’s length away (ish).
I’ve always enjoyed teaching, whether it the students were kids or adults. It’s the buzz of the interaction, the development of ideas (new to me or them) that has kept it fresh for me.
So, the “Big Bad World” will just have to wait a little longer I guess.

I am in Seattle, Washington right now, even though I like in New York City. I am here for the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Annual Conference. Today participated in the NAIS 21st Century Skills/Technology Task Force, a now permanent think tank for NAIS.
Tomorrow I co-preset a Speed Innovating (think speed dating, but for learning) workshop about the new high school (http://www.gcschool.org/highschool) that we are building in New York.
I am a long-time blogger (http://www.21apples.org) and Tweeter (http://twitter.com/arvind) and love teaching and learning. I am happy to participate in this world-wide blogging experiment.

Today was February 29th! I teach a class of 5 & 6 year olds.
Today we talked about why it was a special day – none of the kids knew why. We watched this cool video on youtube that explained a bit about the leap year:
We agreed that Feb 29th is cool as we get a “free extra day”

Aren’t all our teachers and children special. In the hall with Foundation Stage children doing PE with their teacher… hard to tell if it is a PE lesson, or Maths lesson or PSE session. So many great links. So many talented children, working together quietly and collaboratively to achieve their goals!!
well done reception children

My Year Two class in Sittingbourne, Kent have been learning about the events and the repercussions of the Great Fire of London. Today, we will be setting fire to the tudor buildings that they’ve made in a small reconstruction of the event. It will be carefully supervised by an off duty fireman and as well as being a memorable event for the children with regard to their learning of the historical event we will also take time to talk about fire safety.
