Unfortunately I woke up this morning at 4.30am. To make the oct of the time I went for a 10k run, so it feels like it has now been a very long day.
Eventually the morning at school started with an excellent sharing assembly by our Year 5/6 class Maple. Covering VCOP, drama, history and art, the children gave us a fun and informative look at what they had been covering over the last 8 weeks.
Afterwards it was time to meet with a fellow ‘new Headteacher’. One exciting job today was meeting with ‘Go Bonkers’ to plan a Jubilee Fun Day for the children. Hopefully we will be able to entertain 800 children at our school. Bouncy castles, inflatable assault courses and towering climbing walls: these are just some of the ways we will entertain them.
Tonight our Year 5/6 girls football team played at Upminster Park. Despite putting in a good performance, we lost. Apparently the longer out takes to get your first win, the sweeter it tastes once you achieve it. Despite the nature of the result, the girls enjoyed themselves and are now itching to play Parklands in March.
Now (at 11.24pm) it is time for bed and a fun day tomorrow dressed as Willy Wonka. I just hope the children can work out who I am.
