Leap Day
Today is a day that only comes once every four years. Last time I had a Leap Day, I was in 3rd grade! Today we are not going to do anything extra special. I’m at school right now in Wisconsin, USA. I’m in 7th grade, and I study Religion, Math, Social Studies, Reading, Spanish, English, and Science. Next time that Leap Year roles around, I’ll be in 11th grade, or in other words, a Junior in high school!

A trip
Today I am talking about were I am going on a trip I am going to the staue of liberty in new york city were they make some of the best sandwhiches I think this will be one of the best feild trip that I have gone to yet so far everything is going all right we have gone through time square and we got to see the wax museum of all the famous people and star that made hissyory and we got to see central park now we have made it to the statue of liberty and it looks very spectacular .

A day off?
Happy Leap Year! We are posting from Norwood, MA, USA. This is our first post as a third grade. We are excited to post and to read other posts.
Later today we might get our first real snow of the year. Last year at this time we had about 30 inches already – this year – about 4 inches. If we had snow – we could be jumping 29 times in it.
We think that this should be a day off for the students. But it is not – so have a great Leap Day!

Performing in our talent show at Moorlands Schools Federation
Today we have been to the Junior School to do our talent show. In year 2, some of us did The Twist and some of us did YMCA and we enjoyed dancing. It was exciting because we performed in front of lots of parents and the whole school.

Abou us
Clontuskert National School is based in the country side outside Ballinasloe with 42 students.
There are 7 teachers in the school and a secretary. My teacher’s name is Mrs. Murray, the principal. There are 2 halves built, in our school, the old and the new one. The old one was built in 1956. The new half was built in 1999. Our school has seven different rooms including the hall. The two main ones are the junior room which has junior infants to second class and the senior room which has third class to sixth class. We also have a maths room and two resource rooms. We do many science projects ( which includes on 4 primary science schools awards ) which we won we also won 2 heritage awards. One of the other amazing things about Clontuskert is the ringforts. There are over 200 ringforts of then in the parish and we bare starting another project about then soon. There is also a church in the parish : Fr. Finneran is our parish priest. Clontuskert NS is also known for spikeball, winning an All Ireland in 2010 and for the 4th time in a row this year we won the county final.
In Crossconnell there is an old school which opened in 1886 and closed in 1956. By the way Crossconnell is an old road. There is also a pitch in Clontuskert which is at the side of the church. That’s only some of the facts about our great parish.

About my exciting school.
Hi my name is Primrose and I’m in sixth class in St. Augustine’s N.S. Two years ago we got a new teacher called Mrs Murray. She is a Tipperary woman, but I’m a Galway girl.
Last year sixth class had a man teacher called Mr O’ Riordan who is from Tipperary as well but unfortunately he had to go to a different school up the road from our school. We have 42 students in our school and two teachers and three resource teachers. There are two classrooms. The two main teachers’ names are Mrs Murray and Mrs Scott. Mrs Murray’s classes are 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th class. Mrs Scott’s classes are juniors, seniors, first and second class. About us.
Hi! I go to school in St. Augustine’s NS which is just outside Ballinasloe in Galway. There are 40 students in our school.
We do a lot of Lego projects and this year we entered in the First Lego League, which is all about food. You have to build a robot and program it to do different tasks. We finished 21st.
We also live very close to an abbey. It was built around 1180. We have an heritage group and a book on its history, it’s called The Parish of Clontuskert – Glimpses into its past. Our weather is nearly always wet. We play hurling, football, gaelic, tag-rugby and we swim. Our school jersey is yellow with green stripes.
I live right beside the school. I go across a stile to school. My favourite subject is Science. My favourite sport is horse-riding. I really looking forward to our “WORLD’S BIGGEST BLOGGING PROJECT”. I hope loads of people will go online and look at our blog : www.Clontuskert.scoilnet.ie

What I would do if today was my day
If today was my day I would say that school would be canceled. I would love to tell people that today is my day. Then, I would go and collect my money from my butler. Hoping he didn’t steal any of it. Then, I would go eat, watch tv, and online shop. This would be the best day of my life. It only comes once every four years, so I would love to have it be my day. Year 2 celebrated 29.2.12
Today the children in year have been learning about why we have a leap year every four years. We decided that we would celebrate the number 29 during our literacy and numeracy lessons today.
For literacy we wrote 29 facts about ouselves, making sure we started our sentences with capital letters ans ended them with full stops.
For numeracy we thought about what the number 29 means. We used lots of maths resources to make the number 29. We drew lines that were 29cms and 29mm long. We weighed out 29kg and measured 29ml. We thought of lots of facts for the number 29.
Here are some of our facts:
29 is an odd number.
29 has 2 tens and 9 units.
29 is in the twenties.
Sophia lives at number 29.
29 is greater than 25.
29 is less than 35.
29 is 1 less than 30.

Performing in our talent show at Moorlands Schools Federation
Today we have been to the Junior School to do our talent show. In year 2, some of us did The Twist and some of us did YMCA and we enjoyed dancing. It was exciting because we performed in front of lots of parents and the whole school.
We were told that February 29th is a leap year and that it is an extra day and only comes around every 4 years. We hope everyone around the world had a great day too!

today I went to school but I did want it to be a weekend. My brother felt quite sick so me and my Dad did his paper round for him. Today at school we did maths and it was the first thing we did. we learnt about co-ordanites and how to put them into an answer. if i had an extra day…
If I had an extra day I would spend the day with my mum, my dad, my brother, my nanny, my granda and my two cats Parker and Penny. First I would go to the pet shop and buy my cats some toys or biscuits. After that I would go to my basketball club with my friends from outside of school, before I invited my nanny and granda up for dinner. Followed by a party with the fire lit and my favourite film Jack and Jill or my favourite TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. That would be my exciting extra day.

Guitar IS awesome – sport too!
Guitar is the best because you can play any song only if you practice properly. If you do, you can play all the songs and it is really FUN!!!
I can play some songs on the guitar. I also like singing and recently sang in our Schools Rigdgeway’s GOt Talent contest.

In Australia at the moment, and staying in Sydney. What P1 Did In Their Extra Day Dens Road Primary One Dundee
Wow- this is only our second Leap Year because we are 4,5 and 6 years old but what a busy dayed have had!
We did
Morning, dinners, tricky words, reading, spelling, writing, ate fruit, played in the playground, added up to 10, played in the active learning zone, washed our hands, ate lunch- sausages or chicken wraps or macaroni cheese or sandwiches -, read a story, watch the film Baboon on the Moon, drew a picture of our favorite scene, wrote speech bubble, used activexpressions to sequence pictures of the film, played in our classroom, played DoThisDoThat, watched a YouTube clip about weather presenters, tidied up, got our homework, got our coats, went home- PHEW!!!
We were very proud of our teacher Mrs Munro because she went to Glasgow and was on Glow TV, our other teachers, Miss Davies and Mrs Mackay, watched her and we all think she did brilliantly!!!!

Fun at nursery.

yeh i really like german because partly our teacher is always really fun. he makes us sing these really silly songs to remember some of the german words. i know some words like ich means i and du means you and wir means we and so on. mostly everyone in my class like german. you should try this new language because its quite weird but has funny and odd words that are sometimes funn like father is farter.

My Moon Picnic
If I had an extra day,I would go to Rudtherd Appleton Laboratory and go to a rocket with a picnic . I would then then land on the moon with a picnic basket , sit down on the beautiful rocky surface and enjoy my wonderful picnic. delepray abbey
this morning from 9.30 – 11.30 we went to a museum in Delapray Abbey and we looked at loads of war things and clothing and old toys. There was a big vaierity of things there.
The whole school went and our transport that we took was mini buses.

Our Leap Year Day!
Today we had a class trip to an outdoor education centre. We went rock climbing, built a bivouac, learnt how to kayak and even did some archery! It was sunny and a bit rainy. One of our teachers has a leapster cousin who turned 8 today (actually she is 32!) We think this is pretty cool and quite unique. It was a wonderful day for our class. We came back to school and watched a youtube clip at the end of the day which showed us how leap years work. It was also really cool!
