Shoe Trauma

Guess what happened to me a few days ago?! I was aimlessly walking around the playground, not knowing what to play, kicking my feet up as I looked at them. Then suddenly – WEEEEEE WHOOSH, my shoe had launched itself into the air spun hovering over the fence; landing in the neighbour’s garden! It didn’t stop there.
Me having one shoe and at school was a problem enough, but returning home with one shoe was a disaster! (I’m always forgetting things!) What was I going to do? Our helper teacher, who is really helpful, came with me to help to find my shoe. We rang the doorbell. No answer. We knocked on the door. No answer. “Sorry but you’ll have to go home” he said and so I did; it was the longest walk of my life.
At home I explained what had happened. I thought they would be angry with me – I was wrong! They really understood, and said that we would try to knock again later. So we tried. Walking up was even worse than walking home, not knowing how or when to react. The lights were on! My heart fluttered, if they were in then … YES! A young boy opened the door. We asked if he could look in the garden. He took the torch and ran into the garden. Footsteps.
Come on, come on! Whoopee, he had it! He had the other shoe! At last the shoes were reunited. I hope you find my blog useful and DO NOT kick shoes over fences.

I’m so glad you got your shoe back. I bet your sock was pretty grubby by then!

What a brilliant post, Marija! I love your writing style; you have a real talent. I am so glad your shoes were reunited in the end. And what a good lesson for us all – I will certainly think twice before kicking any shoes over fences in the future.

  3. What a terrible experience! But glad it ended well …
