So today is the 29th of February – a Leap Year and the beginning of a global blogging project.
I have been looking at facts aorund this date – for example did you know that in the Uk and Hong Kong a person born on February 29 legally attains the age of 18 on March 1 – I don’t know if this is true in other counties – do you?
Events that have happened on this date in history include:
1964 – Dawn Fraser an Austrlian swimmer set a new world record in the 100 m Freestyle swimming event
1996 – A plane crashes into the Andes killing 123 people.
Famous people who were born on this day include:

People born on this day may be called a “leapling”
Happy Birthday if today is your birthday!
There is also a tradition in some countriues that a woman may propose marriage to a man and if the man refuses he onligated to give the woman money or buy her a dress!
Although in Greece it is thought to be unlucky to marry on a leap day or even in a leap year!
Do you know any other facts about the 29th of February?

Hi to one Dawn from another,
These are some great facts about Leap Year Day. I loved that a swimmer called Dawn, born in the year of my birth (oops given away my age now) broke a world record! That is very cool.
And I didn’t know about the obligations of a man who refuses a marriage proposal. I wonder if any men know that one these days?
Kind regards
Dawn
